Inflation
I think I’m getting even more out of touch with ‘reality’. Either that or I’m on the cusp of becoming a grumpy old man (bring it on). Anyway, I stopped at the filling station to get some air for my car’s tires the other day. There was a sign on the nice new air machine saying $1.00. for air. Is it just me, but doesn't this sound like a lot for air? I gulped but paid it nonetheless and got as far as refilling 3 tires when the machine ceased operating. Like a fool, I put in another $1.00 to inflate the remaining tire.
Is this what they call inflation?
Then I got to thinking, after also purchasing a bottle of water for the ride home. It cost me $2.00 - this was more than the equivalent amount of gasoline would cost (petrol - I hear my fellow Brits shout out). I’m going nuts here; air and water we’re talking about.
Then, after returning home, I have to get an ‘expert’ in to figure out how to get the pilot light lit on my gas fire. He charges me $200.oo ! With no success, I’d been trying for a good few days and it’s really cold here. I feel I'm in the twilight zone as a consumer.
I definitely need to get back on the road.
