Andy Pyle was born in the south of England, and bought his first bass at the age of 15. He left school six months later, and has been playing ever since. He has been influenced by the Memphis and Nashville musicians of the 50, Elvis, and the Mills Brothers band."The blues in general, in fact." Andy's background includes work with Rod Stewart, Savoy Brown, the Kinks, and Gary Moore.
Andy joined Wishbone Ash on their 1986-87 tour of the United States. When Martin left the band in 1990, Andy replaced him. Of this experience he says,"My style is different from Martin's, so I have to take his parts and do my best with them. Martin is more upfront, tends to play with the guitars. I tend to be more in the kick and rhythm section."
In addition to his work with Wishbone, Andy toured with Gary Moore in 1992 and 1993. Virgin released the album/CD of the 1992 tour, called "Blues Alive", in May of 1993. Andy left Wishbone Ash following Ted's departure in 1994.
